The Work that Reconnects in Education. From Ecoanxiety to Creative Action.
We are going to offer an introduction to the Work that Reconnects. An innovative methodology that helps us to rediscover and experience the interconnection with the web of life, to manage emotions in the face of the climate and biodiversity crisis, and to transform eco-anxiety into active hope. We believe that in these critical moments for humanity, an inner gaze is necessary in order to make the changes that we need to make. For this reason, we want to offer an appetizer of what this methodology can contribute, both for students and for teachers and mothers and fathers.
The Work that Reconnects is widely used by environmental movements, transition movements, permaculture, ecovillages. This methodology integrates empathic communication and a variety of participatory dynamics.
It is interesting to note that the Work that Reconnects and the attitude of Active Hope that Joanna Macy proposes in her books and courses is highly recommended by Authors and activists such as Naomi Klein, Yayo Herrero, Jorge Riechmann...
As Joanna Macy describes, some benefits of the process with The Work that Reconnects are:
-
A space where to stop, feel, re-connect internally with full attention.
-
A safe space where you can trust and share your feelings, ideas and intuitions..
-
Experiencing and understanding Earth as a network of living systems, feeling its interconnectedness with all life forms, and the many heroes who work for the good of life on Earth.
-
Generate imagination and courage to face the unknown, even in a culture that is losing its way. From this new vision and understanding of the Earth.
-
This is necessary for educational and professional decision-making aligned with interdependence and ecosocial transition.
-
Sharing and celebrating the gifts of changes in the adventure of the Ecosocial Transition.
-
Connect with a deeper sense of purpose and discover the joy and compassion of working with others while acting on behalf of life on Earth.

Educational Workshops on Work that Reconnects:
For educational centers we present both introductory workshops for teachers and students, as well as a series of 4 assimilation sessions. The “Work that reconnects”. contributes to personal development, training in values and a regenerative culture.
Faced with the ecosocial crises that are being experienced, and from the perspectives that science gives us, the educational community must be able to respond by giving students tools to manage emotions towards the climate emergency. To be able to empower and strengthen both emotional and social resilience. Young people ask us for it, and we have to keep up with the times. That is why these experiential and reflective workshops can open a space for introspection and sharing emotions and possible answers.
We link the intellectual with the affective with one of the most developed and used current tools for the care of eco-anxiety.
-Strengthening internal and external resilience.
-Deepening in the (re)knowledge and love of the Earth, nature and evolution.
-Going deeper into the systemic principle of ecodependence, and working on empathy with other living beings.
